Abilities First : Welcome
Hi everybody and a big welcome to the website of Abilities First.
Our site is not for everybody, it is either something you want and need to know about or it isn’t, it’s as simple as that.
We have started Abilities First with the intention of offering employment or the chance to create their own income, to people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. As jobs are created within the company we will seek out a round peg for a round hole, we are a team and friends to boot, as well as a business.
What I can tell you is that if you feel the same way as we do, about what we do, then you are more than welcome to browse around and give us some feedback. You never know, you might even want to do business with us or you might be a funder that we haven’t spoken to yet.
Another thing is that we will be expanding this site as time goes by so, if you want to keep up with events, sign up for the newsletter.
To the right of this screen is an ominous looking button that is marked ‘Make a Donation’. Sounds cheeky doesn’t it? The simple fact is that we do not receive any funding from local or national government for our work. We do not receive any funding from other sources either, although at one time we received a grant from the Scarman Trust supported by the other organisations shown to the left. No, all our funding comes from our own work and from kind and generous donations made by the public.

We can assure you that all our funding is used to promote our aims and to expand the opportunities that we are able to offer to people with barriers to employment.
